Many trees are planted incorrectly, either by planting them too deeply or by not removing the burlap/wire basket from around the root ball. Both of these issues can lead to stem-girdling roots which is detrimental to the long term health and life span of trees. At Gardens for Texas we recommend using an Air Spade tool along with a compressor to expose the root flare of trees and shrubs. Once exposed, we evaluate and trim as necessary. This process also aerates the soil for improved root growth.

PROFESSIONAL TREE INSTALLATION
Delivery and installation of large trees must be done with care. Large tree on a flat bed must be on it's side so branches are less likely to break. Lifting a large tree off a flat bed is also a difficult task as you can imagine. Care for the tree doesn't stop upon successful planting. After it is planted, the crucial process of watering and, lots of times, protecting the tree from strong winds and extreme heat must be done with care until the tree establishes its root ball outwards from its previous containment.
